COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A young man was flown to MUSC on Saturday night after being ejected from his car during a single-vehicle wreck on a dirt road.
Colleton County Fire & Rescue responders say the accident was reported just after 8 p.m. on a very remote stretch of Parkers Ferry Road, which runs through Westvaco tree farms between Cottageville and Jacksonboro.
The 20-year-old driver was found lying the roadway eight feet from the overturned vehicle, authorities said. Officials said he was suffering from multiple traumatic injuries, but was conscious.
Officials said the driver received pain medications before being taken to Cottageville Elementary School, where a helicopter picked him up and took him to MUSC.
His passenger was uninjured during the crash, but was taken to Colleton Medical Center for observation.
The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
