COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC)- A 68-year-old man received non-life threatening injuries after driving his tractor trailer into a creek along I-95.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue officials say the accident occurred on I-95 at mile marker 55 around 4:06 a.m. on Friday, November 23.

According to a report, the man's rig, which was hauling a load of bottled waters, hit a guard rail before driving off the interstate and falling into a creek bed.

Officials say the accident caused the load of bottled waters to push through the front of the trailer and onto the creek and creek bed. The force of the falling product crushed the sleeping unit of the cab, and knocked the roof off.

A report states the truck came to a stop after running into several trees along the interstate. The truck came to a rest between two branches of the creek supplying the Grand Swamp Sanctuary.

Officials say this was the driver's first accident, and he was wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to Colleton Medical Center.

Crews worked until Noon to remove the tractor trailer.
